Time to open the comic up a bit, by providing a sense of compositional depth via the application of spatial-relations chicanery, and by infusing a liberal dose of chiaroscuro to the proceedings in order to induce a suitably “dingy-mysteries” sort of mood. And then cover up big chunks of it all with word balloons.
Because it’s also time for a little exposition, plus sometimes Chelsea has a tendency to indulge in grandiloquence when the fancy takes her.
By the way, I failed art dismally at school. Did a fairly adequate job on a Radiohead painting though. Except not really, because in actual fact it was crap. Phil’s head looked like a pumpkin and Pumpkinhead is a different concept entirely, and that was just one of many of the painting’s flaws.
I look at this page and think: “I wish MY attic ladder was as nice as the Gish household’s.”
Millie clearly doesn’t understand dramatic effect.
Millie can get so adorably Amelia Bedelia-esque sometimes. I love that about her.
